11 things

a few weeks ago when all those chains were going around on blogs, instagram and i  even saw a few on fbook, i was tagged by jessica low (i still refer to her as smith though...) to share a few facts about myself.

honestly, at first i was just going ignore it, but then after reading so many interesting little facts about my friends i decided i would let people into my world and share a few things about myself.

welllllll that was about 3ish weeks ago, and i am only just getting around to finishing the list that i started. mostly because it has been a lot harder then i expected to think of 11 things about myself, actually 11 interesting things about myself.

and so, here you go...

1. my family moved a lot growing up, like a lot, a lot. if we made it longer then 2 years in one place that was an incredible achievement, and as a result we now refer to our past homes by what colour they were. there are a couple that are the same colour so we then name the neighbourhood they were in.

2. around the age of 8 (i only remember because of what house i lived in) i used to pick up rocks and carry them in my backpack because i was scared on really windy days that i would blow away. oh and incase you were wondering, it was the pink house.

3. my favorite teddy bear was given to me by my aunt,  he came from canadian tire, his name is beary, and i'm not sure why i decided it was a he. when we were living in the pink house my brother broke his nose off, i kept the nose, and it survived through many moves, but never got around to putting it back on. dennis glued it back on for me about a year ago, and he just looks weird now. i have known my beary longer without a nose than with one.

4. i love to eat sauerkraut, with cut up hot dogs and potatoes. dennis thinks it's grose, actually many people do, but i love it.

5. i can not be taught how to knit. i have had so many people try and teach me, i can do it for about a day or so, but i forget immediately. it just doesn't stick with me.

6. i am obsessed with scarves. much to my mothers chagrin i am not big on wearing jewellery, but man i  can rock a scarf. (my birthday is coming you know... )

7. the hair that frames my face naturally grows in blonde highlights, i don't dye it. people ask me if i do, and when i tell them no, and that it just grows that way, i am normally met with a sideways look, because isn't that what everyone wants people to believe? that their hair is naturally the colours that they dye them? but in my case, it is actually true.

8. i am missing a tooth, right in the front of my mouth. i lost my baby tooth in a go-karting mishap, something about confusing the brakes with the gas, i dunno, it all happened very fast. anyway, i lost the baby tooth, but there just wasn't an adult tooth to grow in it's place. so as time passes on, teeth shift, the gap gets filled in, then some years later and a lot of dental work i have a fairly normal looking set of teeth when i smile.

9. right now, we are watching survivor. i love survivor, i feel like i live each year from season to season.

10. i also looooooove donuts. it really is one of my greatest weaknesses, and the frustrating thing is dennis knows just how weak i am. sometimes he gets this little twinkle in his eye, looks at me says "chelly... do you want a donut...?". i buckle right then and there. it's awful, until i get that donut and then everything is hunky dory again.

11. i am trying to become a bit more domestic, trying being the key word here. and to help me start out on this journey is my good friend the crock pot.

so there you have it

and i bet the next time we see each other you are going to be checking out my teeth to see what one is missing. don't worry, everyone does it.

things i miss

big hello to 33 weeks pregnant.

that's...

           ... 231 days
           ... 5544 hours
... approximately 332640 minutes, you know, give or take

but who's counting right?

(big thanks to google converter for helping me out there)

and you know what? there are a whole lot of things that i am finding my self daydreaming about, and looking forward to once this kid is out of my belly.

oh and while we are on the subject of belly, check this out...

helloooooooo big round belly

so yes, i have hit that stage of pregnancy. the one where even if you have had close to the easiest pregnancy ever, you still covet everything about your life/body before there was a tiny little human inside of you that insists your rib cage is only there to be his own personal xylophone.

i know, who knew?

and the little sucker is even showing some attitude! not only will he no longer budge when i try to push him down, and cut off all the xylophone playing time he is currently enjoying, he has actually started to kick back out at me. what a little stinker he is!

although, i have no one else to blame but myself for the lovely stubborn gene that is kicking back out at me.

now i do love the fact that i can feel (and see) him moving, and feel his tiny little hiccups multiple times a day, but there needs to be some kind of off switch when 2:30 am rolls around and it's like richard simmons decided to hop on in there and get his groove on.

so needless to say sleep is topping my list of things i miss lately.

you know, i can handle the odd strangers hand on my belly, even the odd horror labor story, but when every man, women, and child is telling me that i better "get all the sleep i can now", it really strikes a nerve with me. i know they mean well, but you know what? telling a 7 and a half month pregnant lady to get sleep is like telling the titanic not to sink, after it hit the iceberg. it just ain't happenin'.

and i am fully aware that once he is born it won't get any better, and possibly only worse. it's just that the time for that little tid bit of inspiration to be of any use has already gone rip roaring right on past. the people who need to be told to get lots of sleep now are those between the ages of 13-17/18, or rather kids in middle/high school. because you know what once you graduate high school you go off the college, and that's nothing but late nights, of studying (...obviously...) then long days of school, homework, and more studying... (right?) or if you decide to go into the work force, guess what? you actually have to get up earlier then you did when you were in school. you will notice that i am not acknowledging the (insert a more appropriate word then i would use) of the world who decided to do nothing with their lives and deposit a welfare cheque into their bank account that was withdrawn from my pay cheque, but that's a whole other subject.

anyway, sleep.

it isn't happening, isn't going to happen, so just stop it.

another thing that has become distant memory?

bending over.

it has now become this awkward wide leg sumo wrestler stance, leaning to the side thing. go ahead and just picture it, it's real fun.

it's such a shame too because it has been perfect weather for cute boot wearing, and when you can't actually put on said cute boots, well... life just gets a little gloomy.

but on the bright side of this gloom, there is this thing called a husband, and you know what he is great for? aside from a good by stander to laugh at the awesome sumo stance, he can put the boots on!

but sometimes early morning classes get in the way (see the whole no sleeping thing coming into play here) and he can't be there to help me get dressed. so my already limited wardrobe options becomes even smaller.

he may also have to put my socks on me for me, and that many effect certain outfits that i can or can't wear.

and lastly, remember about a year ago when i wrote about my favorite pair of jeans? well those jeans have become the object of my deepest desire. i miss them, and my body that could fit into them so perfectly. they have long been packed away, and if i could, i would dig them out of the garbage bag at the back of my storage closet under the stairs, and just stare at them. but for now all i have to cling to is the memory of wearing them, and look forward to the day i can slip the perfectly worn in soft denim on once again.

only about...

                      ...7 weeks/ 49 days/1176 hours/70560 minutes to go

snuggie and a sick hubby

we have had a serious case of "the man cold" in our house this past week.

it's a good thing that my snuggie was within arms reach from him the entire time

things could have gotten really ugly around here without it.

third and final

on tuesday i officially entered my third trimester.

the last one!

(feel free the interpret the exclamation mark with both excitement and terror)

even with my growing belly, and the constant thumps of him inside of me, i don't think i have totally wrapped my head around all this baby business. does any one really ever with their first? or even second and third?

i have since decided to give into my crazy nesting urges and organized our linen closet. watch out, i know.

next up is turning the second bedroom actually into a bedroom, instead of a dumping ground for whatever couldn't fit anywhere else. for someone who can't pack for a week long holiday without suffering a mild melt down, making all of these preparations does have me feeling a little overwhelmed lately.

but i'll tell you one thing, i can not wait until the day i get to cuddle my little guy in my arms.

and tickle these precious little toes

march, i sure am looking forward to what you will bring. february (late), feel free to bring us an early surprise if you would like.
